In this week’s box: Potatoes, Spinach, Onions, Hakurai Turnips, Lettuce, Yellow Carrots, Savoy Cabbage, Romanesco Cauliflower
Happy Halloween! Nothing too spooky in your box this week, although I think Romanesco could pass, with its other worldly appearance. For those who have never cooked a Romanesco, you can treat it the way you would a cauliflower, the flavor and texture are similar because it is a type of cauliflower. I always recommend roasting it with onions, garlic and olive oil in a hot oven, 375-400, stirring often so it doesn’t burn. When it is tender, the pieces should be browned and some will have crispy edges, and that time in the hot oven will have sweetened it up delightfully. I also love an excuse to make food in the oven this time of year, to warm up the house.
